FAQs

What are some questions I should ask in my free consultation?

During your consultation, we will discuss what brought you to therapy, if you have ever seen a therapist, and what you expect from therapy. You may want to ask about the approach we take, the models we use, how long you should expect to be in therapy, and if therapy is right for the circumstances you are living with.

How long will therapy take?

Therapy is unique to everyone and so is the path taken. Some people can reach their goals in 3 to 6 months, and some take longer. Some people like to continue seeing a therapist for maintenance purposes even after their initial issue has been resolved. It’s always going to be up to you and sometimes your insurance provider.

What is the difference between a psychiatrist, a psychologist, and therapist?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in the mind and mental health disorders and mainly prescribes medications to treat symptoms. A psychologist is a Ph.D. level clinician who can do therapy, research, or teach at a university. A therapist is a Masters or Doctorate level clinician who specializes in mental health therapy and behaviors.
